IChin Liao was raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She received a B.F.A. in Fine Art painting from Tainan University of Technology in 2009, and received her M.F.A. in Painting from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, in 2013. She currently lives and works between Taipei and Manchester.
In 2016, 2019, and 2025, Liao participated in international artist residency programs in South Korea, Hungary, Finland, and Scotland. These experiences have profoundly shaped the formation of her artistic perspective.
Liao’s practice is influenced by philosophy, psychology and poetry, as well as by lived and traveling experiences of engaging with diverse cultures. By weaving together intellectual inquiry and cross-cultural observation, she seeks to deepen her understanding of life through daily artistic practice. Her work explores and experiments across a variety of artistic forms.
Liao has participated in exhibitions and art fairs throughout Taiwan, South Korea, America, Europe, Sri Lanka and the UK, and continues to pursue opportunities to present her work internationally and engage in dialogue with audiences from different cultural contexts.
